Camping season has begun! We all love pitching a tent, lighting a fire, and roasting some marshmallows, but when is the last time you and your family have brushed up on campfire safety? We want to provide you with some tips to make sure you keep yourself, other campers, and the environment safe while enjoying a campfire:
  1. Make sure you check the Fire Safety Index to ensure you are allowed and it is safe to have a campfire.
  2. Dig your firepit away from overhanging branches and circle it with rocks.
  3. Make sure to never leave your campfire unattended.
  4. Keep a bucket of water and a shovel nearby in case you need to quickly douse the flame.
  5. When it’s time to put the fire out, dump a lot of water onto the pit, then stir it with a shovel, and then dump even more water. Make sure the pit is no longer hot or warm when you leave. It must be COLD.
We wish you a safe and fun camping season.
